José Capilla highlights the value of the university–business connection at the closing ceremony of the Leadership Course of the Chair of Managerial and Business Culture

During his address, the rector thanked the Valencian business community for its involvement and emphasised the key role played by the 25 companies in the programme’s board in training UPV students. “We are a very unique university: we strive to offer training that goes beyond the classroom and connects directly with the reality of companies,” Capilla noted.

He also highlighted the distinctive methodology of the course, based on direct tutoring and mentoring from CEOs and senior executives of leading companies. “All these chairs help strengthen the relationship with companies: both sides gain enormously. We train students better, and companies incorporate talent that is better prepared for the labour market,” he stated.

Capilla also recalled the UPV’s leadership in collaboration with companies. The institution currently has 110 company-sponsored chairs and classrooms, and manages around 10,000 internships every year in organisations and companies across multiple sectors. “Companies compete for talent, and here you are—part of the talent that will define the future,” he added.

The rector congratulated the 41 students who completed this edition of the programme – from 14 different degrees – and underlined their professional potential. “The training you have received is something you will value even more in the future. You are the future; a university is defined by what its graduates achieve,” he said.

Capilla also reaffirmed UPV’s commitment to promoting scientific and technological vocations, “especially among women, because this remains one of the great challenges we face as a society.”

The 17th edition of the Leadership Course included 21 speakers, 7 training sessions, 7 company visits and 2 conferences, including today’s talk by renowned branding expert Andy Stalman. For 2025, the chair has already received 816 pre-registrations, a figure that consolidates the programme’s growth and relevance.
