Pepe Capilla signs an agreement with the Royal Academy of Valencian Culture to strengthen cultural and academic collaboration

Valencia, January 31, 2025 – The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and the Royal Academy of Valencian Culture (RACV) have formalized a framework collaboration agreement aimed at strengthening ties in the fields of education and culture. The signing ceremony, held at the RACV headquarters, was presided over by the UPV’s rector, Pepe Capilla, and the RACV’s dean, José Luis Manglano De Más, who was also a professor at UPV.

This agreement will consolidate the collaboration that both institutions have maintained in recent years, ensuring a stable framework for developing joint initiatives in the cultural and academic spheres.

A well-defined framework for the future

During the event, Professor Capilla emphasized the significance of this agreement, stating that "with this agreement, we are moving towards a well-defined framework of collaboration that will allow us to continue promoting Valencian culture and history within our university community." He also highlighted that this moment could be pivotal in the history of the relationship between the two institutions, with long-term impacts.

For his part, RACV dean José Luis Manglano De Más expressed his satisfaction with the signing of the agreement and reaffirmed the Academy's commitment to this initiative: "The UPV is your home for everything outlined in this agreement. We are delighted to strengthen ties with such a prestigious institution as the Polytechnic University".

Salomé Cuesta Valera, UPV’s Vice Rector for Art, Science, Technology, and Society, who is also a professor in the Department of Sculpture and teaches at the Faculty of Fine Arts, highlighted the agreement's role in reinforcing the relationship between the UPV and the cultural fabric of Valencia. "It is essential to work with institutions like the RACV. This agreement will not only benefit our students, who will be able to visit and participate in activities at the Academy, but it also opens up new opportunities within the framework of the Senior University," she stated.

Expanding collaboration

The agreement includes the joint organization of conferences, seminars, and visits to promote knowledge of the history and culture of the former Kingdom of Valencia. Additionally, both institutions will collaborate in research and dissemination, exploring new joint initiatives in the coming years.

The agreement also establishes the creation of a monitoring committee responsible for coordinating activities and ensuring their proper implementation. This committee will be composed of Ana Muñoz Gonzalo, coordinator of UPV’s Senior University, and Rafael Romero Villafranca, a RACV academic and former professor at UPV.

With this agreement, the Universitat Politècnica de València reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of Valencian culture and history, strengthening its relationship with a centenary institution like the Royal Academy of Valencian Culture.
