The Rector of UPV, José Capilla, took part in the official reception organized by the Embassy of China in Spain on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The ceremony, presided over by Ambassador Jing Yao, was held at his residence in Madrid and gathered national authorities as well as representatives from various institutions.
During the event, Capilla held a cordial meeting with Ambassador Jing Yao and the Education Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy. He also exchanged views with the Second Vice-President of the Government of Spain, Yolanda Díaz.
The Rector shared with them the latest developments on the project for the future UPV campus in collaboration with Beihang University, which will be located in Hangzhou. This city is regarded as an international innovation hub, home to major technology companies such as Alibaba, and a centre of artificial intelligence development, with companies like DeepSeek.
José Capilla stressed that “this project represents a decisive step in the internationalisation of UPV, and strengthens our commitment to building strong bridges with China in the fields of talent, research and culture.” He also added that “the collaboration with Beihang University is a historic opportunity that will position UPV as a reference in Asia, opening new opportunities for our students and research community.”
With this initiative, UPV reaffirms its commitment to international outreach and to creating learning environments that bring together academic tradition and technological innovation.
