In anticipation of the celebration of Europe Day, European project monitoring sessions have been organized at the UPV. These days, which are held between March 8 and 9, are organized by the Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE), the Department of Education, Universities and Employment and the Polytechnic University of Valencia itself. These sessions, to which more than 200 people were invited, serve as a meeting point between program managers (SEPIE) and project coordinators.
The Rector, Professor Pepe Capilla, has addressed the UPV's unequivocal commitment to internationalization throughout the world and the strength of research, teaching and transfer activities at the European level. Internationalization has been strongly promoted during Capilla's term, reaching figures of 20% in undergraduate and master's students, and up to 50% in doctoral programs. This commitment is endorsed by the International Action Office, the Internationalization Area, and the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization and Communication, which is responsible for coordinating all actions in this area. The Rector has also referred to the projects that are the subject of this session, those known as KA210 and KA220 of the Erasmus+ program, not only because of the excellent results that are achieved, but because of “the relationships and contact networks that are generated and that go a long way beyond the life of the projects,” Capilla highlighted. In relation to Europe Day, the Rector has highlighted that “one of the things that has contributed most to the construction of Europe is, without a doubt, mobility between universities.”
The Generalitat Valenciana, represented by the General Director of Educational Planning and Linguistic Policy and former student of the UPV Ignacio Martínez Arrúe, has made an unequivocal commitment to the different commitments to collaboration, “joining efforts, taking advantage of synergies and improving together.” The Department of Education, University and Business, in which this General Directorate is inserted, aims to increase the Erasmus+ community, supporting the organizations' abilities to operate at a transnational level.
SEPIE has thanked the UPV and the Generalitat for their collaboration in the organization of this event, which is the first time it has been organized at the Universitat Politècnica de València, and has highlighted the relevance of the day. This event aims to facilitate the management of the projects, all of which were awarded in 2022, and help them overcome initially unforeseen challenges, highlighted its Director, Alfonso Gentil Álvarez-Ossorio.
